The Memory of Haakon

38

The sand explodes around your feet. Crying out, you retreat from the eruption, backing away holding your weapon at the ready in front of you. From the gaping hole jumps the familiar form of Captain Mosk. His characteristic chuckling reaching your ears at the same time he regains his footing and looks at you.

'Ahhh, we meet again, do we not. What do you think of the Ghoulag's gift, a constant escape from death, and a form of transportation upon reanimation to wherever I wish? Handy, neh?'

Shock once again fills you as an icy hand seems to enclose around your heart. To reach your goal it seems you must do the impossible, you must slay the unslayable, and destroy its unstoppable power. Yet, still a glimmer of hope lifts your spirits as you contemplate the creature, for perhaps you have come across something in your travels that will enable you to destroy this evil once and for all.

Captain Mosk takes a step forward, almost hesitantly as he looks straight into your face. 'Fitting, is it not, two dark creatures born of the spirit of Naar battling to see which one will be the next champion of his cause. Here we stand, on the spot of ancient battles, where the grave of another ancient hero of darkness lies determining whether or not you, the Chosen Son of Naar are fit enough for the task that lies ahead.'

'What do you mean?' You ask, your curiosity suddenly perked by his remark.

'Do you think that Naar truly has some great item in store for you here, or do you think all of this, the test, the voyage, the nemesis I form are all just mere obstacles placed by chance?' Mosk grins. 'If you believe that, then not only are you a fool, but you will surely lose. Naar hates to put faith in an untested champion.' The undead captain draws his scimitar for the third time against you, raising it high above his head.

'There can only be one resolution to this conflict.' He states. 'From this encounter only one of us will walk away.' With that he attacks you.
