Naaros Rising (cont')

Lone Wolf left the chamber shortly afterwards, advising Sun Star to do likewise sometime within the next hour. The Supreme Master removed himself to the Vault beneath the Monastery, hoping secretly to find the answers that he needed hidden there.

The Vault was lit by M’lare bowls recovered from the Caverns of Kalte in the far north, ever-glowing vessels that fed upon no power source that he could discern. Their weird light had not been needed before; the Lorestones had provided enough. Torches affixed to the pillars might have served, but it seemed wrong somehow to use them here. Torches had to be replaced time and again; and this was not a room for inconsistencies.

In the centre of the wide chamber was what appeared to be a crystal bier. But it contained no body, no lost warrior whose name had faded from memory.

Lone Wolf stood before the case and ran a hand over its immaculate surface, surrounded by shadows and pale green luminescence. He looked through his reflection to the golden blade beneath. He looked upon the Sommerswerd.

"So, you remain?" he whispered. "We have seen much, you and I. Naught has parted us for long; not even the darkness of Kazan-Oud. That we must go on another journey, I have no doubt. But things are coming to a head. One day, there must be an end." He drew back his hand. "There must be an end."
