The Memory of Haakon 44You travel for three days in which time you must eat at least three meals or lose up to 9 Endurance points (the Discipline of Hunting will not work in the desert Kingdom of Vassagonia so you must either eat a meal from you pack or lose 3 Endurance for each meal you skip). Passing over barren territory, you fly at night when it is cooler, resting during the heat of the day. On the fourth evening of travel you finally spot your goal, a site that is almost completely covered with sand. Centuries ago, this entire area was excavated while Haakon searched for the Book of the Magnakai. This book held hope for the rebirth of the order of Kai after its eradication, and it was for this cause that the Darklord desired to destroy it. He very nearly succeeded but was thwarted on the very threshold of success by the intervention of the Legendary Kai Lone Wolf. Now, all but the tops of a few of the ruins lie covered in sand once more. Almost no trace of the ancient dig remains. The desert soon swallows the clues of ancient history, or so it seems. Leaving the Itikar behind to hopefully wait for your successful return, you head toward the tombs. You spot an entrance at the very tip of one of the excavation sites: A doorway that seems to have been made clear for you at this time. Wondering if Haakon knew of your arrival even those many centuries ago and prepared this doorway, you walk toward it. You have almost arrived when suddenly a hand bursts through the sand and grabs your ankle. Tripping, you fall as an agonizing pain rips through your foot. A needle of some sort has pierced it. The needle is poisoned. You writhe on the ground as another hand bursts through the sand grabbing your other ankle. Desperately you draw your weapon and hack at the hands. Momentarily they withdraw only to reveal a greater danger. Unless you possess the skill of Immunity you must lose 6 Endurance due to the Poison coursing through your system. |
