The Kai Master crumples to the ground, his standard falling, and a wave of despair runs through the troops below. Seeing their indomitable leader fall seems to sap their very strength, and in minutes they are running. Rallying your troops to you, you begin a standard straight-forward assault upon their rearguard, but it is only a temporary success.

Shots ring out, loud, booming shots that send a rain of lead among your forces. Luckily, since most of the front line is composed of Giaks, you only lose useless chattel to the incoming hail; nevertheless, they are falling all too quickly to make you feel comfortable. Bor Muskets, much improved since their predecessors a millennia ago, are lethal, especially wielded in the hands of Dwarves, as these are. A line of them have been set up to protect the retreating allied forces, but with the damage they are doing to your troops it could also bring about a reversal of the battle at the gate.

Another volley of the Dwarven weapons strikes closer, felling Drakkarim now, and even endangering you as you dive to the ground. Pick a number. If you possess the skill of Spying, add 1 to the number chosen. If you possess the skill of Basic Instinct add 2 to the number chosen. If you possess the skill of Hunting add yet another 1 to the number chosen.

If the number you have chosen is between

0-5, Turn to 13.

6 or more, turn to 6.
