28Your forces are badly outnumbered, thus the Sharnazim cut them down mercilessly. However, the barrier is in place behind you, and your work is done. It is time to manifest some of your new powers. With a word, the slaughter of the few Drakkarim outside disappear as you teleport back into the Fortress of Helgedad. The Drakkar Commander's jaw drops open as he sees you appear, wonderment filling his eyes. In an instant he jumps to attention. In fact, the entire army stationed around the gate are in amazement. To show their honor at your great feat, they award you with an ancient artefact. Long ago, buried beneath stone and rock, Gnaag held what many thought to be a Doomstone. Whether it truly was one of these legendary stones or not, it has been traditionally held in honor by Drakkarim Generals after its retrieval 500 years ago. With it comes the respect and obedience of every Drakkarim of Helgedad. It represents the honor and blood of the race, the essence of war, and the respect of a true champion in their cause. It is this stone they award you with, naming you the true Lord of Drakkarim, and Guardian of the Stone. If nothing else, you have succeeded in winning the unwavering loyalty of the Drakkarim in battle. The Stone of Gnaag is a Special Item and should be recorded as such. Led by instinct, you place it on the hilt of your weapon, and to your surprise, it melds with the item. This will add an additional +1 when using this weapon (thus if you were using Helshezag and got a +9 bonus, the bonus will now be raised to +10). Record this on your action chart and then, as this location is secure for now, choose a new destination. If you desire to invade the tower of Gnaag, turn to 30. If you wish to aid in the Battle of the Breach of the North Wall, turn to 17. |
